The Challenge

Support and outreach representatives needed a lightweight, browser-based softphone without installing proprietary desktop clients or hardware phones.

The Solution

Built a modern Next.js softphone application utilizing WebRTC and Twilio voice gateways, allowing agents to dial worldwide phone numbers directly from their browsers with zero software installs.

System Architecture & Integration Details

Frontend: Next.js App Router with Twilio Device SDK integration
Backend: Express.js generating ephemeral voice grant tokens and managing TwiML response logic
Telephony: TwiML Application mapping browser call requests to PSTN outbound endpoints
